The show must go on!

After backing out of the People’s Choice Awards earlier this month, Katy Perry is ready to finally make her first U.S. public appearance since splitting with Russell Brand. The “Waking Up in Vegas” singer will co-host a special GiveLove charity event on January 27 at hotspot 1 OAK Las Vegas at The Mirage.

Although Katy isn’t set to do any interviews or press, a source close to the singer revealed this event was planned a long time ago, but Katy couldn’t bare missing an event that she holds so dear to her heart. “This event was in the works before the divorce, but she wouldn’t miss this one,” the source told Celebuzz.

She’ll be joined by J. Molinari jewelry designers Markus Molinari and Jason Arasheben and recording artist, Ferras, who will give a special performance on behalf of the charity that develops temporary housing solutions and improved sanitation systems in Haiti.

“Markus Molinari & Katy Perry are best friends, coming together to bring awareness to an amazing cause GiveLove.org,” Eli Pacino, managing partner of 1 OAK Las Vegas told Celebuzz.

The songstress seems to be moving on just fine since the divorce filing. Over the weekend, she was spotted in good spirits as she promoted her perfume, Purr, in the Philippines. Katy was all smiles as she greeted fans and local celebrities at the event.

The singer also reportedly removed her ex-husband from her list of Twitter followers this week.

“She’s limiting those interactions,” a source told Us Weekly. ”He’s being so atrocious that she feels like she never really knew him.”

She just wrapped up her California Dreams tour, and newly-single singer Katy Perry was spotted arriving back into the States via LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Monday evening (January 23).

The 27-year-old pulled her sweatshirt’s hood over her blue locks as she did her best to make a low-key pass through the metro terminal en route to an awaiting car.

The sighting comes after Miss Perry stirred up plenty of chatter during her tour closing show in the Philippines over the weekend thanks to a moment in which she pulled 21-year-old model Ivan Dorschner for an onstage smooch.

While a local newspaper called the Philippine Star made the Perry/Dorschner moment sound R-rated, Katy – who recently split from husband Russell Brand – said it was an innocent part of her act.

Of the stage antics, she tweeted,

“Btw, I have *kissed* 1 boy, picked randomly out of the audience, on the cheek as a part of my show for all 125 tour dates. Simmer down now.”

Taking advantage of a day off from performing to plug her latest scent, Katy Perry hosted a meet and greet for her perfume Purr in Manila, Philippines on Saturday (January 21).

The newly-single “Firework” singer donned a short blue coif as she welcomed the gathered crowd by saying,

“Hello, Manilla! I thought you guys would have something better to do on a Saturday.”

Miss Perry continued,

“It’s so nice to see you, thank you so much for coming out! Well, it’s really exciting to be here. I’m really excited to be launching Purr and I’m very excited to play a show here tomorrow for a second time.”

From there, Katy proceeded to dote spectators with purple cupcake snacks as she signed autographs and shook hands – with one fan gifting her back with a book about her Chinese sign, the rat.

Katy Perry is cutting Russell Brand out of her life in more ways than one.

The 27-year-old “Firework” singer has unfollowed her soon-to-be ex-husband on Twitter. As of Friday, Perry is still one of the 78 people Brand subscribes to via the social networking site.

It’s not surprising, given that Perry is only communicating with Brand, 36, via phone or email. “She’s limiting those interactions,” a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly (out now). “He’s being so atrocious that she feels like she never really knew him.”

Perry has been keeping Brand off her mind by focusing on her career: she performed in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday, and she recently shot an Adidas ad in Santa Barbara, Calif.

“She doesn’t want to look battered and have people for sorry for her,” a Perry source tells Us. “She’s very strong and confident.”

Video game giant Electronic Arts said Tuesday that it has struck an “extensive and exclusive creative collaboration” with Katy Perry for its game franchise The Sims.

In collaboration with the singer, The Sims Studio plans to develop multiple games within the life simulation franchise that will feature special Perry-themed content and virtual goods, including clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props. The partnership will kick off with a special Collector’s Edition for The Sims 3 Showtime, launching in March. Perry will also be featured in advertising and marketing campaigns for the brand.

Financial terms of the relationship weren’t disclosed.

“Today marks the start of the most integrated and exciting collaboration with any artist in the history of The Sims,” said Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of Music for EA. “Katy Perry has been a fan of The Sims for several years, and her Simlish recording of her hit Hot and Cold featured in The Sims 2 series quickly became the most popular Simlish music video to date…No performer could better represent the humor and fun of The Sims brand.”

Said Perry: “I love how you’re able to play out different stories through your Sims characters – giving them different careers and watching them succeed. It’s cool to see the Sims‘ stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour – even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim!”

THE best way to get over a split is to get on with things.

And Katy Perry is clearly getting stuck back into work following her divorce from Russell Brand.

The singer has announced that she’ll be releasing an exclusive range of false lashes with Eylure this year.

Katy apparently fell in love with the lashes  when she wore them throughout her year-long California Dreams tour.

She has apparently designed four sets of lashes, each reflecting her kitsch sense of style and is set to launch them in February.

An Eylure spokesperson said: “We’re really excited to be working with Katy as her natural style and personality are a fantastic fit for the brand.

As a false lash lover herself, Katy had a very clear idea of what she wanted to achieve and was involved in every step of the design process.

“We were keen to create a range of lashes that were a direct extension of her own personal style whilst also retaining Eylure’s position as innovators in the lash market. We are very pleased with the results.”

Katy Perry may be regretting her last minute decision to cancel on the People’s Choice Awards, where she was honored with five awards out of the six for which she was nominated.

“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards,” she tweeted on Jan. 9, just two days before the ceremony. “I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS”

Though she lost to Demi Lovato in the favorite pop artist category, Perry nabbed a total of five awards for the evening – none of which were broadcast during the show itself. A full list of winners posted online reveals that Perry was selected as the favorite TV guest star for her stint on How I Met Your Mother, beating out Gwyneth Paltrow (Glee), Jim Carrey (The Office), Kristin Chenoweth (Glee) and Michael J. Fox (The Good Wife).

“THANK U to every1 who voted for me for the @peopleschoice tonight!” Perry tweeted after the Jan. 11 awards show. “We won so many! Now I need to get more books 2 successfully display them!”

Among Perry’s additional awards are favorite female artist, favorite song of the year for “E.T.”, favorite music video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” and favorite tour headliner.

The People’s Choice Awards were expected to be Perry’s first public appearance since news broke of her impending divorce from comedian Russell Brand. During the media frenzy that followed, Perry’s father — an evangelical minister — was quoted as making several off-color remarks during his sermons. He later apologized.

Perry is next expected to attend the Grammy Awards on Feb. 12, where she is nominated for record of the year and best pop solo performance for “Firework.”

While her fans and the curious public anxiously awaited their first glimpse of the singer since the announcement of her divorce, Katy Perry is making everyone wait a little bit longer.

The newly-single 27-year-old was scheduled to attend this Wednesday night’s (January 11) People’s Choice Awards, but unfortunately has just announced that she will no longer be making an appearance.

Miss Perry broke the news via her Twitter account on Monday afternoon (January 9) – just two days ahead of the ceremony, as she wrote,

“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend.”

While quite clear that she needs a bit more time away from the spotlight after splitting from Russell Brand, Katy opted against writing out the reason for skipping the event.

Still in the running for a total of seven trophies (1 in Cinema, 1 in Television and 5 in Music), Perry did offer an appreciative message to her fans, as she added,

“I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS.”

After a week of silence, Katy Perry has made her first comments since breaking up with Russell Brand.

The “Hot N Cold” singer chose to address the public via Twitter this evening (January 7), as she first wrote,

“I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again.”

The 27-year-old proceeded to voice her unhappiness with the media’s speculative coverage of her divorce from Russell, as she messaged,

“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family.”

The tweets come ahead of Miss Perry‘s planned post-split red carpet debut, as she’s among the stars lined up to attend this Wednesday’s (January 11) People’s Choice Awards.

Just as moving vans pulled up to Katy Perry and Russell Brand‘s Hollywood Hills home, Perry‘s parents discussed their daughter’s impending divorce for the first time, from the pulpit of their evangelical ministry. During a worship service this week, the two said that they believed Perry‘s split was God’s way of bringing people to church.

Mary and Keith Hudson saw an unusual surge in the crowd at their Church on the Rise in Westlake, Ohio, during the week following Brand’s filing for divorce from Perry after just 14 months of marriage. The Hudsons advertise being “Kate Perry’s Parents” on the roadside sign for their congregation. Perry‘s given name is Katheryn Hudson.

“I’m sure that Katy‘s trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight,” Mary Hudson said from the pulpit, to a crowd of 300. “I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.”

Keith Hudson added, “What has taken place in my daughter’s life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. God has given us a platform to go in and meet people — and they like us because we are cool. We are not threatening.”

He furthered that the couple were not upset with their daughter for getting divorced, often frowned upon by their religion. (more…)

It’s confirmed by @peopleschoice: Katy Perry will be a presenter on the January 11th cerimony!

Katy Perry WANTED Russell Brand to file the court papers in their divorce … because she didn’t want to upset her religious parents … sources connected to the former couple tell TMZ.

We’re told … Katy and Russell knew the relationship was on the rocks a couple of months ago — but didn’t want to give up on the marriage without making a concerted effort to work things out.

But the effort fell flat … with both sides feeling “it just wasn’t there.”

We’re told both Katy and Russell were on board with the divorce a few weeks ago — but they didn’t want to be in town when the papers were filed … so he went back to England and she booked it to Hawaii.

Since Katy‘s parents are evangelical Christians, we’re told she didn’t want to be the one to “officially” end the marriage by filing the docs … since she was raised to believe divorce is wrong.

After he filed the docs, Russell released a statement Friday insisting the two will “remain friends.”

Russell Brand has filed for divorce from Katy Perry … TMZ has learned.

In the docs, filed in L.A., Brand cites “irreconcilable differences.” The two were married Oct. 23, 2010 in India.  They have no kids.

The divorce docs say there are “community property assets” — it’s a sign there might not be a prenup, or if there is one it doesn’t cover all of the earnings and other assets they accumulated.

The docs do not give a date the couple separated.

Russell has released a statement, claiming, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

Russell proposed to Katy in India on New Year’s Eve 2009 — nearly two years ago … to the day.

Sources had told TMZ the couple was having problems, evidenced by the fact that they spent Christmas apart and neither was wearing a wedding ring.

Although it’s not 100%, based on what we now know it appears Brand may have blindsided Perry by filing the divorce petition.

Russell appeared on “Ellen” just this month, slamming divorce rumors ( — claiming, “I’m really happily married … I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive.”
